Join Leah and Bridget for an in-person, Active Breathwork & Yoga Nidra workshop on Saturday, December 13 at 6:30p in Park Slope.
What is Active Breathwork?
Active Breathwork is a repetitive, rhythmic, three-part breath pattern that controls breaths through the mouth. The continuous breath allows for the body to safely activate the sympathetic nervous system to energetically shift and uncover what may need to be moved and released. This journey is guided by a rich musical soundscape. The experience offers a unique experience for each practitioner; engaging the body, heart and mind into an altered state of awareness.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is an ancient meditation practice focused on "yogic sleep" or "wakeful rest," guiding participants to a deep state of relaxation while the mind remains awake. Participants lie down and are verbally guided through body scans, breath awareness, and visualizations, leaving the body relaxed and the mind calmed. Nidra practitioners experience reductions in stress and anxiety coupled with increases in energy and mental clarity.
It is suggested to bring a journal for post-breathwork reflections, and wear comfortable layers since the body may shift in temperature during the experience.
Please note: Active Breathwork is safe for healthy individuals. It is not suitable for people who are pregnant, have respiratory conditions such as asthma, experience epilepsy or seizures, or have high blood pressure. If you have any concerns, please consult a healthcare practitioner prior to participating.
